Volkswagen Bora - Locking wheel nuts

Volkswagen Bora - Locking wheel nuts - LiamH
Hi folks,

New to posting in the forum but read it all the time because it's full of great advice.

I've a problem that I hope you guys could help me with. I recently bought a bora in the sport model trim. Problem is I noticed there are locking nuts on the wheels and no locking key supplied with the car. The wheels are standard sport alloys that come on the car.

How do I go about getting these off without the key? Any advice would be greatly appreciated folks.

Did you buy new or 2nd hand? In either case check the boot carefully including under the floor where the spare wheel is/should be, there are a few little hiding places in there!

Failing that go to VW and they can access a copy key-nut I think - or check with the previous owner if 2nd hand.

Bought it 2nd hand off a trader. I looked everywhere in the car and found nothing. Thank you for the advice AlastairM.

Can't remember in VW's but in Pugs there was a little cubby slot in the glove box lid, wheelkey often tucked in there, did you have the spare wheel out and check the key isn't taped or cable tied to the underside of the wheel, not doubting your searches but these things get hidden in the unlikeliest of places.

Most VAG cars have the key stored in a slot in the same polywhatsit stuff which holds the jack. If it isn't there, the previous owner has lost it: they don't cost much from a dealer although I suppose you might find one on E-bay.

I have a Focus with standard issue alloys but only one key. Acting on the opinion of my local dealer, who said "These days people steal cars not wheels" I bought 4 standard wheel niuts and ditched the locking ones and the one key
