Are there any car insurance comparison websites that do not ask for a telephone number? I do not want insurance companies bothering me, I get enough cold callers as it is and don't tend to answer my phone any more anyway. I am happy to give my email address but not my phone numbers, home or mobile.

None that I have used but you can always use a made up number. I tend to use the correct dialing code and then 000000.

Then if you do use the compnay you can give them the correct number if you wish.

AND.. to stop the unwanted e-mails forevermore use a disposable e-mail address that will not use your name in it, and if you are really paranoid (tongue firmly in cheek) don't use your name spelled properly till you get the quote you want.

don't forget to tick the do not receive mailings box...

This year, Every site i went to offered me the same premium with the same company, collusion or what?

No! A result. Did you find a cheaper quote by any other means?

As above you can use a false number and name until you get the quotes you want.

I tend not to use comparison sites any more - too many times they used my information to their end and not mine (and I work in the marketing industry so know exactly what they can and cannot do with your data).

This time I got a quote from Direct Line (not on comparison sites). With a multi car policy I managed to reduce my premiums for 3 cars by a massive 45%. I had to triple check they got all the facts right and their price wasn't based on a false assumption, but everything was fine and they got my business. I check prices every year so it wasn't a case of me benefiting from swapping providersafter sticking with the same one for years.

I have no connection to Direct Line by the way - just a pleased customer.

The last time I looked at these sites was about five years ago. Then, you would get the comparisons on the screen without the requirement for contact details. This seems to have changed though.

I am changing my car shortly so I will see what my current insurance company quotes and then contact some others directly if I feel I may be able to do better.

I use them a lot, checking out insurance when purchasing a new car and put all of my real details including phone number. As long and you untick the 'I am happy for the top company to contact me by phone' or whatever it actually says then you don't get called. In the 3 years using them I've not once had an unsolicited phone call from any of the comparison websites.

Fair enough. I will give it a try.
