Volkswagen Golf VI - Checking service stamps with main dealer? - d_isfordanger

Good everning everyone.

Is it possible to check with a main dealer that the stamps in the book are valid?

If so, how far back do they keep records?

Thanks in advance.

I would think that the records have been computerised for long wnough to cover a Golf mark VI. You can only ask!

If you have any doubts, walk away. but ask the dealer nicely and take them a box of chocs, gets them in the right frame of mind to help you.

You are clearly talking about records from VW dealer(s). Why not ask the question differently - just ask for hard copy of the car's servicing record? In my experience (with Peugeot) that should be available, probably across the VW network if the car's moved around. Any dodgy ones should not show up?

VW hold a central record so give their customer services a call and see what they have,

Don't be surprised if the dates do not match exactly as dealers tend to update a bit randomly but it should give you a general idea.

They should go back quite a long way - 12-15 years possibly.

Alternatively, if it is all from one dealer, just call them and ask them to confirm they have seen the car. They might not give full info due to data protection but will be able to say whether they've serviced it.
