any - What is it about Fords? - Theophilus

Over the past year there have been several hundred requests for radio codes - it seems that 95%+ are for Fords - predominantly Fiesta or Focus.

Is there a particular issue with Ford motorists, that doesn't affect drivers of Vauxhalls / VWs / Toyotas etc. that they don't make a note of the radio code and pass it on to the new owner when selling the car?

Most do not even think about the code, as all the time the radio works there is no reason to, so, untill the power supplies are removed you dont need it. apart from that they get lost and forgotton about

I only remember one person that kept the code, but was rendered useless as the radio unit was stolen, the thief may have got it from the usual sources? easy done

Maybe it's a case that Ford still use codes, like other brands did in the '80s but they've moved on - I'm an anorak when buying a new car but haven't had to record radio codes for decades.

Ford was one of the last makers to use an owner input radio code system. From around 2010 a pin is not required. However ,in line with many other manufacturers, radio systems are "married " to the electronics of the car,so fitting a s/hand unit is not simple.
