Apealing Parking Ticket in Wales - macski

Went to Wales recently for a few days, took a relative who is recovering from an illness and has mobility issues.

One day parked my car in what I though was a disabled parking area and went for a meal, on my return there was a ticket as I apparently parked in a restricted loading area. There was no marked loading restrictions signs and when I returned noted there were disabled bays marked out by a slightly lighter grey road surface. No yellow lines.

I naturally appealed and naturally the appeal was rejected a photo of a sign that apparently is on the entry to the square says it is a restricted parking zone?

Thoughts please anyone?

Pay the fine and learn from your mistake, you've already appealed and it's failed. It's not worth the stress and risk of a court appearance. It's just one of those things and authorities have in recent years been clamping down on badly or incorrectly parked disabled drivers because for a long time they seemed to be parking wherever they wanted without paying attention to the rules governing their permit.

I had many heated arguments with blue badge holders parking in our loading bay with the councils parking attendants originally ignoring the issue but in recent years they started booking them and rightly so when there was plenty of other spaces available nearby. Inconsiderate parking caused a great deal of trouble for my business and others around us.

As a BB holder myself, all BB holders should know it's not valid where there's a properly-signed loading restriction - it's all detailed in the booklet sent out each time a BB is issued or renewed.

But to be fair - disabled spaces are often taken by vehicles loading/unloading!

Unless you re-visit the location and find no such sign then there is no option but to pay.

It's not clear from the original post - did you actually have a blue badge?

council.

Up until a few years ago used to go regularly to the area and parking was allowed . I was surprised at the few cars parked in the area, soI asked and was told parking now was banned but pointed out parking for disabled. With luck a car was pulling out of a space and I just put my car there, saw the disabled parking sign thought nothing of it.

Going to Spain or Greece next time!

Unless there's a problem with the TRO/signage or they'll accept mitigation you're stuffed. Pay up and move on.

I seem to recall a parking issue in Bedale, N. Yorkshire a few years back. A chap parked up in what he thought was a designated space. Got a ticket, appealed, rejected but refused to give up. The reason he gave was the signs and markings were not clear or informative of the type of zone or restrictions applied to the area. He photographed and measured each sign and their location. He discovered that not one of the signs complied to the RTA specification for signage and markings. Went to court and won the case. NYC had to replace and resite the signage in the whole area. I also believe they repaid several dozen fines when previous 'offenders' appealed. Worth checking if you have the time and inclination.
