Mercedes-Benz CL-Class (2007 – 2014) Review

Mercedes-Benz CL-Class (2007 – 2014) At A Glance

3/5

+High performance in comfort. Top quality feel inside. A rare sight on the roads. AMG version is amazingly fast. More aggressive looking following 2010 facelift.

-Expensive to buy and run. Depreciates rapidly. Very big for a two-door car. Pulsation dampers can fail leading to a hard ride.

New prices start from £95,570

Would Mercedes-Benz contribute to an ABC pump replacement?
"My 2010 Mercedes-Benz CL500 was making noise so I took it to local dealer. He called in a Mercedes-Benz dealer who diagnosed the ABC pump failing. The Mercedes-Benz dealer replaced the pump because the local garage asked them to. The total cost was £2,200, so I asked them to ask Mercedes-Benz to contribute. They are refusing. Is it likely Mercedes-Benz would because the car has done 38,000 miles with a full service history."
I don't think there's much chance of this because the car is more than 6 years old.

Mercedes-Benz CL500 auto - do I really need to change the gearbox oil?
"I own a 2009 Mercedes-Benz CL500. It has covered 35,000 miles from new and my local dealer inform me that the automatic gearbox oil and filter should be changed at this mileage at a cost of £303. Is this really necessary?"
Very, very, very necessary. Some automatics like VW DSGs and Ford Poweshifts need this every 3 years.

"I tried Shell V-Power to see if it made any difference to mpg, largely because of your newspaper column. I drove back to the UK from Frankfurt in my 1998 Merc CL500 last week, averaged 136km per hour, and got an astonishing 10.63 litres per 100km. Made it all the way back on one tank of petrol. Great advice, thanks."
Excellent. Thanks for the affirmation. Just watch out for speed traps in the Calais area.
