My classic has been stored since 1990 - how do I change the taxation class to Historic?

I have a Renault R16 which has been off the road in store since 1990. It is now nearing the end of a two and a half year restoration. I have the registration document dated 9 March 1990 in my name. The car is on the DVLA system, but it is not SORN'd and the taxation class is PLG, which needs to be Historic. Please could you tell me what I need to do?

You'll need to apply at a Post Office (which deals with vehicle tax) to go into the historic tax class. You'll need the V5C in your name – if you don’t have one you'll need to complete a V62 form and pay £25. If you have one, you should also take along the V11 form. Your car will be exempt from the MoT so you'll need to complete a V112 form.
