My BMW 5 Series tiptronic seems to misfire when stopped with 'Drive' engaged. What's wrong with it?

I have just purchased a 2007 BMW 520d SE tiptronic automatic which has done 32,000 miles. It's a beautiful car and runs like a dream, but when I come to a stop and leave the auto in "Drive" the car rumbles about as if there is a misfire. If I put it in "Neutral" it stops. Now I had a 3 Series diesel automatic prior to this, which had done 25,000 miles and started doing the same thing but not as pronounced. Have you any advice or ideas?

What's it telling you? Put it in neutral. But this does read as if you have a torque converter problem. Get it to a member of www.fedauto.co.uk and see what he says.
