Why is our Vauxhall Meriva's dashboard creaking, and what alternative MPVs are there?

I have a 2008 1.6 Vauxhall Meriva which has an annoying creak at low speeds and a buzzing/rattle over 60mph from under the driver's side dash. Do you have any ideas where this could come from? Also, I love the driving position and size but could you recommend a better-built alternative?

It's not worth the expense of trying to solve dashboard creaks and rattles. If you have the money, go for the new Meriva 1.4T 140. But's it's now a bigger C-Max size. Alternatively a Citroen C3 Picasso, Nissan Note, Kia Venga or Honda Jazz.
