I'd like to buy a Mazda MX-5. What should I look out for?

Hello John, I retire in 18 months. I have driven company cars for the last 30 years as a salesman, so have not actually owned or bought a car in that time. However I am cosidering buying a Mazda MX-5 for my retirement. I have seen one, a 2003 model in black, with full service history at £4990 from a dealer. Any pitfalls I should look out for? What questions should I be asking?

Yes, why not? I guess this is a 1.8 (the 1.6 is hopelessly underpowered). The best of this model was the 1.8 6-speed Sport. More in car-by-car breakdown.
