How do I know that my new Vauxhall Astra 1.4 has the higher-rated 100ps engine?

Last week I signed a purchase order from the local Vauxhall main agent for a new Astra "Exclusiv" 1.4i. I subsequently discovered that this description covers two versions of the same engine, one with 87PS and one with 100PS. I do not understand why two versions are available but obviously want to ensure that my car has the higher-rated version. I have had a verbal assurance that the car has the 100PS engine but am struggling to get written confirmation of this, which has aroused my suspicions. Can I check the facts for myself from the VIN or other identifiers on the car?

I thought I could check from the VCA site, but both have five-speed boxes and both emit 129g/km. I guess the only way to be sure is to make sure that 100PS is written on the invoice. Try posting in The Backroom to see if anyone else has a better idea.
