Recommend a fun, economical diesel that I can get a mountain bike into?

I have £15,000 and am potentially happy to do 0 per cent interest type deals. I want an economical diesel (gets 50mpg combined ideally) which is fun, drives well and you can get a mountain bike in the back of!
