Which small car offers better ride comfort than our Peugeot 206 SW?

I currently run a five-year-old Peugeot 206 SW which has been fine, but I would like to consider changing to something of a similar size that would provide a better (softer) ride, as my wife and I are now fast approaching our 80s and would like more comfort. We also have a J-reg Rover Mini Cooper which certainly lacks comfort but is great fun to drive, so we're not entirely 'over the hill'. I'm assuming I could get near to £4000 in part-exchange and would prefer to chip in not more than £4000 on top.

The best-riding very small car is the Chevrolet Spark, but that may be too small for you. A bit bigger, probably a Clio or a Peugeot 207 on 14-inch or 15-inch wheels with deep profile tyres.
