Will the W204 Mercedes-Benz C200 really never need replacing?

I own a 2004 Ford C-Max TDCi with over 100,000 miles on the clock, which will need replacing fairly soon. I seem to remember you writing that if one bought a Mercedes-Benz 220 CDi, it would never require replacing, the implication being that mileage was not an issue. I'm retired and this idea appeals to me, as I see from the internet many high mileage examples of good quality cars that will return consumption figures at least as good as my C-Max (45 mpg). Is this a good idea? I like the Mercedes-Benz 220 CDi and the BMW 320d but there are Audi, Saab, Volvo and Lexus models all now running economically on diesel. So which do you recommend?

What I wrote was that a W204 Mercedes-Benz C200 CDI 6-speed manual SE Classic was the only car I had driven recently that felt like it would do 500,000 miles in 10 years.
