Why does the flywheel recall for the Audi A3 only apply to the manual model and not the automatic?

I have a 2006 Audi A3 DSG Auto which has only done 46,000 miles. The car was stalling so Audi checked it on their computer and found no problems. Then they told me my flywheel needed replacing. I haven't heard any noises from it. I checked on VOSA site and found A3 recalls for my problem and my year. I told Audi, who informed me that the recall was only for manual A3s, not automatics. I have got several repair quotes ranging from £1100 to £1500. Audi UK said they will talk to me tomorrow and apply a goodwill gesture for the repair, which tells me there is a manufacturer's problem on an auto. What shall I do?

The DSG diesel also has a dual mass flywheel. You should be in for some goodwill.
