How many miles will the Nissan Navara NP300 really do the gallon?

I'm looking to buy a new Nissan Navara NP300. I'd like a 4x4 and I also like the pick-up element to allow me to fill the back with mountain bikes/logs/family holiday stuff etc. The new Navara seems a great compromise as its refined and has a proper utility boot. I also get a 20% discount on Nissans which makes it tremendous value.

My one worry is fuel consumption. I do 24k miles a year, of which 18k are commuting - motorway and A roads. Can I really reckon on getting 40mpg from this?

I've been getting 36mpg from 4WD Isuzu D-Maxes and 40mpg from 2WD D-Maxes in Thailand, so this is the economy range to expect. The big advantage of UK spec NP300s is coil rather than leaf rear springs that give a far better ride quality.
