Fault free VAG motors?

I was never a fan of the VAG group (VW, Audi, Seat, Skoda)and, on top of that, your site is full of examples about unreliable motors they produce; however lately I find myself in a difficult position: you see, I'm looking to buy a second hand estate or MVP with 4x4 and in this niche market, the cars of the above group represent maybe more than 70% of the available vehicles.
Can you name any reliable engine(s) used by VAG group in their vehicles during the last 10 years?

VW sells a colossal number of cars and up to now had been sustaining the myth of WW reliability so with the high numbers and high expectations it's not surprising that I get a lot of complaints. VAG has been fixing its engines. The current belt cam 1.4TSI 125 and 150ACT from 2013 seem excellent so far. The EA288 diesel and petrol engines were vastly improved since the beginning of 2013. VAG made a 4WD Altea diesel for a while and 4WD Caddys and Transporters as well as Skoda Octavia Scouts, Yetis and Audi AllRoads and VW AllTracks. Ford and BMW now offer four wheel drive on a lot of models, including Mondeos, S-Max and Galaxys, but you won't find them 2nd hand. BMW Have done RHD x-Drives for a couple of years. Some independently imported Mazda Bongos and other Jap scrap MPVs such as the Mitsubishi Delica had 4WD. Subaru Foresters and Outbacks are all 4WD.
