Is this a fair offer?

I bought a Skoda Fabia in August but in early November it burst into flames. The Skoda investigation was inconclusive about the cause as there is so little left of the car. However, Skoda did consent to replace car. Naturally I have no confidence in replacement Fabia. Dealer is offering £14,100 (sum paid for Fabia) and £3000 towards new Skoda Octavia. However, I am asked to top up with £2,245. they are quoting £19,345 as the total price. I see from your website and others that the target price is in the region of £17,000, therefore do not consider that this is a genuine offer.

Thank you for reporting the disaster, which will be logged. But you say the dealer will refund you the full price you paid for your Fabia and add £3,000 to that, but wants £2,245 more to provide you with a new Octavia. That is a fantastically generous offer because it is actually better than the £17,000 target price without the dealer's £3,000 contribution. It works out at £16,345 for the Octavia.
