Why is the Honda Civic Hybrid so cheap?

I am thinking of buying a Honda Civic Hybrid or a Volvo C30. Why is the Honda so cheap (and with this week's offers even cheaper)? A local Honda dealer is offering me a Civic Hybrid 2009 SE with 4700 miles for £12,988 and a 59 with 1000 miles for £14,988. And now he offers me a brand new one for £15,000. Does the colour matter? Which to go for? And what do you think of the Honda CR-Z?

Because they're not really very good. They don't drive as well as a Prius and roll much more.

Much better than the original. An enjoyable, practical, safe, economical hybrid. Looks good, too. Prius Taxis have run to 400,000 miles plus with very little trouble.
