Is this 3-year-old traffic offence in Italy enforceable?

I have just received a notification of a traffic offence in Florence on 14 August 2007. Is it correct that according to Italian law I have to be notified within 360 days? If not, this has got to be a record!

It depends on whether you were driving your own car or a hire car. See: www.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/italian-traffic-fines
