EGR valve failure - what damage has this caused?

The ERG valve has failed on our 12 month old Range Rover Evoque. Coolant has entered the engine, what possible damage could have been done?

Depends how much. Coolant can't be compressed so the engine may have suffered hydraulic lock. I've never heard of this before. It's quite a common PSA/Ford 2.2-litre diesel engine.
