Scratched bodywork - should I fix before part exchanging?

I will be trading in my 2010 Mazda 3 1.6 diesel with 80,000 miles on the clock for a new Volkswagen Golf. The Mazda has some bad scratches and I've been told it will cost £900 to repair. Is it worth getting it repaired before part exchanging or should I leave it as it is?

The Mazda will trade out and sell faster at auction with clean bodywork, but its 80,000 miles are against it, so I can't guarantee you'll get £1000 more for it spiffed up than in its present state. So see what they say. If the offers are so bad anyway that your only option is to sell privately then you will have to get the paint done.
