Can you change from drive to a lower gear whilst moving in the KIA Cee'd automatic?

I am an observer for the Institute of Advanced Motorists and am currently observing a gentleman to help him to pass his advanced driving test. His car is a 2010 KIA Cee'd 1.6 diesel with an automatic gearbox and he claims that the vehicle's handbook states that changing from drive to one of the lower gears should not be attempted whilst the car is moving. I find this difficult to believe. Can you please confirm that what he says is correct? For the advanced test he will have to demonstrate that he can make full use of the automatic gearbox.

I can't confirm, but this seems as ridiculous to me as it does to you.
