Is now a good time to replace our 3.5 year old Grand Scenic?

Our 2011 Renault Grand Scenic 1.4TCE Bose Edition is 3.5 years old. I have been offered a 1.2TCE 130 Bose Edition with same features and spec with a cost to change of £10,000.

This values our car at £6850, with an April delivery. I would keep the car for four years and would also pay £299 for three years servicing. The new car is marginally cheaper to tax and insure.

Given the choice, would you advise us to keep our current car for another four years, or change now, to avoid unknown mechanical and servicing costs?

Swapping will get rid of the worry of replacements like tyres and brakes that you can't warrant against, and also anything else that might not be warranted like the electric parking brake, the electric power steering, the dashboard and the window motors.

But I can tell you that the Scenic 1.4TCe 130 is a much wanted vehicle, giving decent performance and economy without the problems of a diesel, so don't let it go too cheaply. (The 1.2TCe 120 will pull a Scenic along as it does a decent job in the Nissan Qashqai.)
