Best small estate/MPV for £9000?

I need a medium sized estate or MPV with a flat access boot (for getting my wheelchair in and out easily). It must be an automatic as I do mainly urban, start stop and short journeys.

I have been told to avoid diesels with DPFs and go for a petrol, but are there a limited amounts of petrol automatics around? Fuel consumption is a factor as is the tax price it will be in. My budget is about £9000, which car should I get?

A petrol automatic MPV or even a diesel automatic MPV in this price range is going to gobble fuel used in the manner you describe. There is no getting away from that. A Toyota Prius or a Toyota Auris HSD probably makes the best sense, assuming you can get your wheelchair in.
