Is there any way of addressing my Polo's hesitancy after braking?

I too, own a Volkswagen Polo with the DSG auto gearbox. I love the car in every respect except for the peculiar hesitancy it has after you apply the brakes, which I find most disconcerting. Am I right in assuming that this is a programmed application into the car's computer? If so, can it be reprogrammed and who would be able to do it? I presumed from other reader's comments that Volkswagen would not want anything to do with it?

You are correct that it is programmed in, and VAG will claim it is a safety measure. I have never heard of a means of programming it out. The problem is firstly the necessity to brake to move the lever from N to D, so whether you shift to N at a junction or merely sit on the brakes in D you still have to brake. The brake light switch then tells the car's ECU to reduce fuel supply to the engine. The problem is that the message to supply fuel again can sometimes be delayed.
