Is the new Toyota Yaris safe for carrying dogs in the rear?

I'm thinking of downsizing from a Touran to a Yaris (diesel) and would like to know if the new model is safe for carrying my small dogs. I only use the car for short journeys and would not like to buy one if the rear folds in really easily after a knock. They have the 5 Euro NCAP ratings and would like to hear your professional opinion. I want a small economical car which depreciates not too badly and is solidly built.

Either the Ford Fiesta or Volkswagen Polo should fit the bill: www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/ford/fiesta-2009 and www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/volkswagen/polo-v-20...9

What other used models the same size as a Yaris, with a good safety rating are worth looking at? Or are they much of a muchness at this size car? We certainly don't want larger than Yaris size.
