Is the Mazda CX-5 a good replacement for my Skoda Superb estate?

I've been racking up 25,000 miles a year in my Superb estate since September 2010, and am planning to change it this year. My default plan is to replace like for like, whilst adding the security of 4x4 that is now offered by Skoda to the diesel and auto combination that I already have. Can you recommend the new Mazda as a possible alternative to the Skoda? In the past I have found that the raised driving position on 4x4 vehicles has suited my 6-foot plus frame very well, and long distance comfort is the only chink in the Skoda's armour. Your thoughts will be much appreciated.

I've done big distances in Scotland (yes, Skye and back) in a CX-5 2.2 diesel Skyactiv 4WD automatic at quite high speeds and it was very good. It has much better engine technology than the Skoda's, which is now lagging behind a bit.
