Why won't Kwik Fit repair runflat tyres?

I'm sure you are already aware of this situation but just in case you haven't seen it in writing, Kwik-Fit has written to me to state: “Kwik-Fit is unable to repair run flat tyres as we cannot guarantee the repair on them. This is a service that we are not able to provide in any of our stores".

That's what happens if a company has a blanket policy. The truth is that if the car has not been run far with no air in the tyre then the tyre may be repairable, but repairing it involves inspecting the carcass carefully. And the time taken to do that is expensive at, say, £100 an hour. So Kwik-Fit adopts the policy of not repairing runflats.
