Why do some 4x4 drivers drive so inconsiderately?

During the recent flooding a friend of mine came up to a section of flooded road and, seeing that the two cars in front of him had successfully edged their way cautiously through the water, proceeded to do the same. All was going well until a totally inconsiderate driver of a large 4x4 approached from the opposite direction and ploughed on regardless. He got through without a problem but in so doing created such a bow wave that it doubled the depth of water and my friend was brought to a standstill with a wrecked engine. When will these arrogant 4x4 drivers show more consideration to other road users?

That is a legitimate complaint. Drivers of 4x4s need to wake up to the damage they can do, and may find themselves woken up if a complaint is made against them for 'driving without due consideration for other road users', followed by small claims action for the damage.
