How do I choose the quietest, softest riding tyre?

My Mercedes-Benz C-Class came on 17-inch alloys with Michelin Primacy HP 225/45 R17- 91W tyres, which are hard, noisy and very uncomfortable. I’m considering a downgrade to 16-inch wheels, with 205/55 R16 - 91H-MO Bridgestone Blizzak LM-32-MO from my dealer as a package for £1000 fitted. Question is, will they be much softer riding and quieter?

The Bridgestones are cold weather tyres. The deeper profile alone should make them more comfortable and the softer compound (more rubber, less carbon black in cold weather tyres) should make them better still. If you want all year round tyres capable of climbing hills in the snow get Goodyear Vector 4 Seasons.
