Do you recommend any paint finishes for bodywork that preserve the condition?

I have just bought an Alfa 159, and I want to keep its bodywork in tip top condition. I've heard about finishes that can be applied after external valeting that protect the finished surface and keep the car in good condition for a very long time. Can you please give advice on whether any of these are worthwhile, and if so, which is the finish you'd recommend?

While writing - the tax disc on my new car expires on 31 May. I've received the log book in my name, but as yet I haven't received a tax disc renewal form. How do I renew my tax disc if I don't receive the renewal notice?

You're talking about products like www.jewelultra.co.uk/. They generally do a decent job of protecting the paintwork, but don't come cheap. You can re-new your tax disc online without the form, or pick up a separate form from the Post Office.
