should I buy a car with category D status?

I am looking to buy a BMW X3 from a private seller. I have had a HPI check done and the car was category D Vehicle (damaged but repairable - the insurer decided not to repair). The data currently held on the National Mileage Register (NMR) indicates that there may be a mileage discrepancy on the vehicle too.

Should I look at buying the car or just pass it? If I wish to sell it in future would the Category D effect the price?

Cat D can be stolen and recovered after the payout. It does not necessarily mean any damage was done. But the mileage check would bother me. Presumably this is an F25? If so it won't have an MoT history of mileages. Could have been bought by a trader and clocked.
