Insurance claim due to faulty handbrake

I bought a new Kia Picanto in January. Today I parked it outside my daughter's house on an incline at the bottom of a hill and the car rolled backwards and crashed into a pillar, completely smashing in the back of the car and damaging the underside.

I have informed my insurance company and told them the handbrake was in the ON position. I have also done some homework and found that some Kias were recalled due to faulty handbrakes, but my car's VIN number is not one of those mentioned.

Can you give me any advice on how I should proceed, as I am sure my insurer will think I did not put the handbrake on.

Contact KIA about this through your dealer. It suggests that your car slipped through the TSB net.
