What is the best high octane pump fuel available?

I always try to use Shell V-Power super unleaded petrol, but here in Bideford there are no local Shell stations. The next nearest fuel station until recently was Esso, but recently Texaco has taken over the old Esso station and its basic unleaded is 2p per litre more than at the nearby Morrisons supermarket.

When I enquired as to why the cashier informed me that Texaco has different additives to the petrol, thus improving performance and economy. Is Texaco therefore the next best fuel in the absence of Shell V-Power?

Texaco Super used to be called 'Clean System 3' and was guaranteed to keep engine fuel systems clean, but that was 15 years ago. If you can’t get Shell V-Power or another super unleaded fuel that appears to do the same job, use a fuel additive from www.millersoils.co.uk.
