Can water ingress cause an electric window malfunction?

I own a Skoda Superb Estate 1.8 which, in every respect, has been brilliant. This week, after a short trip I returned to park outside my garage and wash the car. On starting to wash the car I found all the windows had opened themselves.

I've heard about a water ingress problem which interferes with the window controls - before I speak to my dealer could I respectfully ask for your opinion?

Two things can happen. You can nudge the key in your pocket, which opens all the windows, or water gets into the locking and windows ECU which is on top of the window motor, inside the drivers door.
