Should we buy a diesel Ford S-Max for the school run?

With three growing boys, we would like to buy a nearly new Ford S-Max Auto but the garage says that most of these are diesel. It will mainly be used for a 10-mile school run. Would this be a major problem for this car regarding DPF issues etc, or would the occasional motorway trip solve any issues? If it is a problem what are the alternatives? We are not very keen on ‘van’ type people carriers, but we need seven seats and space. Budget £25,000.

You'll probably get a new S-Max 2.0SCTI Powershift for that. Try www.drivethedeal.com.
