Are satnavs with GPS now illegal in France?

As I understand it, in-car satnavs and mobile phones with GPS facilities are going to be subject to the same law as radar detectors when travelling in France. It's a real nightmare.

It's ill-thought and completely ludicrous. Cars have been fitted with original equipment satnav which gives the locations of fixed cameras in France since 2003 (Honda Accord). Intriguingly, the Carminat TomTom in the latest Renault Megane (a ‘French’ car built in Spain) warned of all the fixed cameras on our Spanish test route.
