Which extras should I pay for in my new BMW X3?

I am trying to spec a new BMW F25 X3, which I know is a car you recommend. There are several very expensive extras I would like but the prices are serious. Xenon lights are £920 and a towbar is £765. In your opinion can these be fitted retrospectively, eg Xenons by Halfords? Or is it better to bite the bullet and pay BMW?

I advise against Xenons because the self-levelling goes wrong. It is now part of the MoT and the and the cost of fixing them can be £1000 a side. Do go for the panoramic satnav because it's fantastic and, without it the dash, looks like you've penny pinched (though it’s not fully up to date with all UK 7-digit postcodes).

If you will ever tow, have the factory fitted towbar because that probably brings with it an upgraded drivetrain with things like extra transmission cooling. Don't go for big wheels, 18-inch should be the max with 235/60 R18 tyres. Pirelli Scorpion ATRs or STRs are probably the best tyres for summer and, for winter, Michelin Latitude Alpins. Decide for yourself on leather or cloth. I wouldn't bother with gimmicky things like built-in DVD screens for the kids in the back.
