No holes in warranty

As your readers seldom seem to send good news about Volkswagen, I thought you might be interested in my experience. I bought a new Passat Estate in 2004 and was disappointed to recently discover corrosion in the offside front wing. I consulted my local dealer, Heritage at Weston Super Mare, where I received a very sympathetic hearing.

They took photographs and measurements and told me the matter would have to be referred to Volkswagen in Germany who would in turn pass the matter back to Volkswagen in the UK. Seven days later I received a call to advise me that Volkswagen had agreed to replace the wing at no cost to me. I made an appointment, to suit me, for the work to be carried out and was given a choice of manual or automatic transmission for a courtesy car.

The work was completed to the highest standard and I have a 3-year warranty on the work. This has been an excellent outcome for a warranty claim on an 8-year-old car.

Top marks to Volkswagen. But if it carries a 12-year "no perforation" body warranty, you actually got what you were entitled to. True, no argument, which is highly commendable.
