Has my new Land Rover Freelander 2 been 'clocked'?

Last week I purchased a new Land Rover Freelander II. The odometer in the speedo read just six miles, but the trip read 7.8 miles. This should be impossible unless the odometer had been 'clocked' in some way. Land Rover was unable to provide a coherent reason for this. I thought 'clocking' was illegal? Do I have to declare this fact when I sell the vehicle?

So you are complaining that your car has done 1.8 miles more than shown on the odometer? Give me strength. In fact, manufacturers and dealers preserve the right to zero odometers after a reasonable delivery mileage of less than 200 miles.
