Dealer attempted to raise the price of our new Touran after signing contract - what should I do?

I was today due to collect a 2010 Volkswagen Touran SE with 6000 miles on the clock from a Volkswagen dealership in Twickenham. The dealer sourced the Touran for us and gave us a price of £14,195, to which we agreed and immediately paid a deposit of £500 to secure it. The paperwork was then drawn up last week and signed by both us and the dealer. One hour before collection, the manager phoned to say that in fact, he wants £2000 more for the car. He says they got the price wrong and it should have been £16,125. I would be very grateful for your thoughts.

I think the dealer is in breach of contract and must either sell the car to you at the original price or refund your £500 deposit. A 2010 Touran 2.0TDI 140 SE with 23,000 miles should be £14,075 retail and having just 6000 miles does not increase that by more than £600. If you are both willing to negotiate I’d offer to settle for £14,795, no more.
