Insuring a young driver on one of our cars?

We are thinking of insuring our 21-year-old step son one of our cars for him to drive (it is a "second" car as both myself and my partner use two other cars on a daily basis for work).
The car will be insured in my name and he would be added as a named driver and would use it to get to and from work.

He has just passed his test and will be working for a research company in the bio-tech sector. If he has an accident would I lose the no claims discount off of both of my policies or just the policy for the car he has use of?

Insurers will regard this as 'fronting'. Better to insure it in his name and add yourselves as named drivers to reduce the premium. Consider a black box telematics based insurance.
