Should I buy this damaged Golf?

We agreed to buy a Golf as a Volkswagen approved used car and when we inspected the car it had just arrived and had some scratches and minor dents which we were assured would be rectified before delivery.

We have now been informed ahead of delivery that there is a dent near the back wheel arch which cannot be removed as there is a double skin in that location. I suggested that the dent be filled and sprayed but they have refused saying that this would cost too much as a significant amount of re-spray would be required in order to get a paint match.

Should I stand firm and insist on full repair, negotiate a reduction or walk away?

What is the position on the Volkswagen scheme as the booklet claims "Volkswagen preparation standards"?
