Buying small economical diesel seven-seater

We need a reliable and affordable seven-seater with fold down back seats and an economical diesel engine in it. We would like it to be as near 'normal' car size as possible as we very rarely need all seven seats and do an awful lot of miles hence the necessity for economy.

At the moment we have a 52 plate Fiesta with about 65,000 on the clock and a VW Golf 53 plate with a massive 216,000 miles on the clock (still running brilliantly on it's original clutch though!) What could you recommend as regards a car and the most financially sensible way to go about it? We also have about £2000 saved up.

You don't have a lot to play with here: only about £5500 total. You have self-suggested a Touran. I'd prefer a Corolla Verso. And the other one is of course the Zafira.
