Do I need winter tyres for my trip to France?

I might be driving my car to the French Alps in a few weeks and I'm wondering if I need to buy 4 winter tyres?
Also will I need new rims for them?
Temperatures reach anywhere between -4 and -20!

Definitely. If its on stupid 17" alloy rims you need new 14" or 15" rims for the winter tyres. If it's on standard steel 14" or 15" rims, no problem fitting winter tyres to them.
