Honda CR-V: Diesel or petrol?

We will be using the CR-V as a second car - driven once a week on the motorway for work (1/2 an hour run so an hour in total) and when the weather is bad. We will also be using it around town in between but not much. Should we go for diesel or petrol? I've heard the petrol engine is not the best. Roughly 12,000 to spend. If we go for diesel, which is better? The 2.2 CTDi or the 2.2DTEC engine?

Go for the older 2.2iCTDI diesel because that does not haver a particulate filter so you won't get the problems a DPF brings.
