Optimistic dials

I'm sure you are aware that trip computer mpgs are optimistic by 5 - 10%, so that readers' figures based on these are unrealistic and optimistic. If I submit a figure (for a Honda Jazz), it would be based on real calculations from mileage and top up, but, I suppose even that is optimistic as the odometer will read 5 - 10% high.

Well yes. My BMW is registering 72, but the calculated mpg is 65 and the odo may be about 1% optimistic.
