Real World MPG feedback

I just wanted to say the Real World mpg database is a great idea & a good resource.

However to point out the obvious it still doesn't give the whole picture - e.g. a Focus Eco averages better mpg than a Fiesta Eco - I'm sure this is entirely down to the fact more Focuses tend to hack up & down motorways while Fiestas tend to spend more time in town.

Not that I have any good answers for the town/motorway issue without making the whole mpg thing too complicated!

But none the less a great resource - I'm glad it's gaining traction!

We took the view that the only universally true figure of universal relevance is an average of an average of an average of an average. So motorway drivers, city drivers, drivers who take their mpg from the meter, drivers who measure brim to brim and allow for odo inaccuracy. We take an average of all of them. The biggest mistake would be trying to be scientifically precise.
