Rain damaged electrics on BMW

Please advise other BMW E91 owners. I own a 330d Tourer, 55 plate, although the same issue exists on earlier models (You Tube shows an earlier 735 with the same problem).

Recent heavy rain fall resulted in the E Box containing the ECU to become flooded. The drain at the bottom of the box must have been partially blocked. Problem – not possible to see into the box and was unaware the ECU was sitting in water.

· Circuit board within the ECU become corroded. Car would not start.

· Control unit changed.

· £1150 out of pocket.

Local BMW dealer wouldn’t offer any comfort as it is out of warranty.

Note – a simple gasket on the ECU case would have stopped water entry.
